This was our 4th wonderful road trip to perform for the Zephyr & Zodiac Car Club Convention!
The Christchurch Club booked Flip Side to meet them in the snowy mountains of Methven Mid Canterbury.
Even though it was a little brr, it really is beautiful this time of year.
We headed off from Pink Curtain Entertainment NZ Headquarters in Waimate to arrive in time for brunch at one of our fave spots in Timaru - Cafe at the Complex. We love how they allow "The Roadie" (fur baby dog Apricot), to join us! We filled up on their awesome big breaky, as it really is the only time we get to eat until the small hours after the event. In which we are almost ready to eat our feet!!

Once satisfied with an extra Cappaccino, we got back on the road.
It's always an anxious and mad panic to find the motel, then go and set up before we have to head back to the venue to perform. We sort of have a calm craziness going on.
After setting up, going back to the motel to change and check on the Roadie, we headed back to the Brinkley Resort where the event was held.

Everyone was sitting at their tables after having their meal and there was a buzz of chatter, catching up, talking cars and what not. People come as far and wide as Australia for this event.
As we had already performed for this wonderful lot 3 times before, we soon saw familiar faces and smiles. There was a feeling of friendship.

Desert was about to be served so we started by playing a few quieter numbers for them to listen to and get their feet tapping.
Soon after the party ones in the crowd joined us on the dancefloor. For half of the night, we gave them 50s 60s and the 2nd half we banged into the other decades.
This is a fun bunch who enjoy getting together and we appreciate them having chosen us for the last 4 times.
After the last song there was hugs and laughter and then we started the pack up process.
Once back at the motel, makeup off, me not Lofty...lots of Roadie cuddles, then we enjoyed a bite to eat that we had bought with us cos kinda knew nothing would be open at that time of night to get junk food. We always attempt to watch a movie to relax (which can turn out to be harder than it sounds) but generally only see half of it before collapsing into bed with throbbing feet.
The alarm goes off at 9am as got to get out of motel by 10 so there's a fairly half-asleep stumbling around packing things up that goes on.
Once out it's where to go now for food! We drove around and managed to find some great places to eat that would allow a fur baby in too.

Station Coffee was 1st and wow what a place! It was huge with a really lovely feel to it. Lots of areas to sit and relax. There was an in-house florist and gifts too. Down the back there was a decent size kids area. We got chatting to the owner and he tells us on a Sunday they have a music jam session in there which we thought was pretty cool. We enjoyed a great coffee and went onto the next place for breakfast.
If you go to Methven, and you love a good 2nd hand treasure trove you'll find it at Primo. They have a chubby resident dog name Moo and the breakfast is "Primo"

Heading out of Methven we discovered a giant chair outside a surf shop, so we had to stop and take photos of us posing on it. It did take a bit to get up on it though.

Methven was having some kind of scarecrow competition so there was a few of those scattered around the town.
Once finally home (in the dark), we loaded gear in, unpacked, and went into blob mode in front of the tv for an hour or so.
A full and fun weekend returning home exhausted and happy that it was all a success!
